Gnomedex is a Joke, Scoble is Still a Tool

Gnomedex is another one of those stupid Web 2.0 events where the self-important bloggers come together to talk about how they can use social news sites and organic whole bean tofu curd improve the world. A Warner Music executive Ethan Kaplan summarizes it better than I could myself saying:

What was supposed to, and what I think NEARLY came out of Gnomedex is that beyond the hall of mirrors and navel gazing that is the tech sphere, there is a larger world out there that NEEDS help desperately to get it out of the situation it is in. All the Web 2.0 shit, RSS tagging folksonomy crowd-source bullshit is not going to help situations in developing countries, namely the United States of America’s own third-world.

…RSS feeds will not feed a person for a year.

Thank you. The always festive Robert Scoble blogged and vlogged about it and decided to really go for the jugular by criticizing Warner Music.  Scoble instead failed completely by criticising Kaplan’s employer for one obscure incident.  I’m sorry Scoble, Cam’ron has done a lot more good for the world than you ever have.  He’s also far more famous and important despite being a B-list rapper.  “Hey Ma” has a lot of positive messages including empowerment of physically disabled people.

Web 2.0 idiots don’t realize that logical arguments need to be countered by logical arguments. You don’t win a debate by making fun of the debater. If that were the case, we’d all just point to Scoble and ask him to lose weight and get a tan. The same would go for so many Valley blogtards including Arrington, Calacanis, etc. However, we stick to logic while the “A-list” idiots continue to fail to use it.

Sorry Scoble, you’re still a tool. Web 2.0 entrepreneurs still need to figure out something valuable to do with their lives.
